“I wrote ‘Adrian’ maybe seven years ago, but it’s totally reworked and redone--I love tapping into my older things and bringing them up a notch. I got very experimental with this song and brought lots of new instruments in; it starts with a birinbau, and that swishy sound in the instrumental section is me rubbing my hands against my djembe. I had to get experimental because I didn’t have any other musicians there until the Berman Brothers brought in some wonderful surprises for the solos.” |
